Warm Up: 
20 Minutes of independent reading (This is week #25)
Mini-Lesson Topic:
Determine a central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details
Questions to guide learning:
How does knowing an author's point of view or purpose in a text help to determine the meaning of the text?
Work Time: 
Close Reading: "A Defense of the Jury System"
Graphic Organizer: As You Read (completed with a partner)
Close Reading:  "Six Million Trayvons"
Graphic Organizer: As You Read (completed independently)
How I'll know I'm successful:
Students are able to use the close reading strategy to deeply understand the text (including the main idea and supporting details). 
Debrief: 
Table Share: Answer the "Questions to guide learning"
Homework:
Independent reading (At least 30 minutes)
Update reading list
Complete and turn in any missing assignments (such as the Genius Hour Citation Page).
